Thomann in Treppendorf—the music store of superlatives. Within the musical instrument industry, countless stories and admiration surround the incredible 70-year journey of Thomann. What began as a small music store founded by Hans Thomann Sr. has grown into the largest online music retailer in the world.
Behind every success story are the people who work tirelessly with dedication and passion. The Thomann Story: Behind the Passion is a documentary film that brings the Thomann story to life, offering an up-close and personal look as music fans have never seen before.
The enthusiasm and dedication for musical instruments that radiates from the Thomann campus traces back to the passionate work of its founder, Hans Thomann Sr. What began as a small traveling business soon took root in the tiny village of Treppendorf, near Bamberg.
In 1954, Hans Thomann Sr. opened the first music store in Treppendorf. Over the years, the business grew steadily, but despite its success, Hans Thomann Sr. remained humble—a valuable quality he instilled in his children.
Immersed in the music business since childhood, Hans Thomann Jr. took over the management of Musikhaus Thomann in 1990. Just six years later, the company launched the first online shop in the musical instrument industry. At the time, the MI industry was often skeptical of this move, but today the Thomann Campus stands as a beacon of innovation. Combining state-of-the-art logistics technology, a comprehensive service center, production studios, a world of musical experiences, and the popular t.kitchen, the campus has become something of a “pilgrimage site” for musicians. A visit here deserves a place on every musician’s bucket list!
This year marks Thomann’s 70th anniversary, a milestone that has celebrated since March with fantastic deals and special promotions. The highlight of the celebrations is CyberWeek 2024, which offers incredible discounts and continues to attract attention through December 2, 2024.
The PIANOO team extends its heartfelt congratulations and thanks Thomann for 70 years of passion for music!
