Alpha Pianos

Alpha Pianos is an Austrian manufacturer based in St. Andrä-Wördern, near Vienna. Its credo? Digital pianos without compromise in feel, design, or quality. In fact, Alpha Pianos’ instruments surpass other hybrid digital pianos in terms of features and price.

The Alpha Studio, the first instrument to hit the market in 2016, immediately drew attention with its sophisticated cabinet design. This height-adjustable instrument, powered by servo motors, is equipped with a real grand piano keyboard and action, offering the authentic feel of an acoustic concert grand. One notable feature is the patented sensor system, which was developed specifically for the Alpha Studio. This system uses real felt hammers to strike the keys, just as piano strings would be struck, and transmits playing information to the electronic sound engine.

Futuristic Controller Keyboard: Alpha Pianos mPiano

The mPiano is Alpha Pianos’ most forward-looking project. Its futuristic design alone signals that this instrument goes far beyond traditional piano playing. In fact, its keyboard promises expressive capabilities previously unavailable on any keyed instrument.

At its core, the mPiano is a MIDI (and CV/OSC) controller whose key surfaces contain high-resolution sensors. These sensors allow you to shape a note after striking it by transmitting real-time parameters, such as pitch bend, timbre, and dynamics. A true world first is its electronically controlled key travel and key weight: You can adjust the depth and resistance of each key in real time, resulting in a touch response that matches virtually any electronic sound source.
